By reducing exhaust restriction, the engine is able to expel gases more effectively, which results in an increase in overall horsepower and torque. For the 4.0L V8 AMG engine, this translate into noticeable performance gains, particularly at higher RPMs. Depending on whether the Downpipes are catted (with 200 Cells Catalytic Converters) or decatted (without catalytic converters), the sound could become more aggressive and growl-like, giving the car a more noticeable exhaust note.
